Research Fact Findings:
Our research in situations where there are heavy reoccurring infestations of litter beetles in poultry sheds have found large numbers of adult beetles hiding in the cracks and crevices of walls where they are protected from standard industry treatments. Counts of beetles collected from these areas have found numbers estimated to be in excess of 1,000,000 in a typical shed. If we have 1,000,000 beetles hiding in the shed walls, cracks and crevices before the litter is put down, and they produce 1,000 eggs each, then we will end up with 1,000,000,000 (a billion) beetles from this, not counting eggs or larvae from the 2nd generation of beetles residing in the subfloor soil.

Sundew is proud to announce the APVMA approval of LarvaBETA – a world first dual active for the control of darkling (litter) beetle in poultry sheds. LarvaBETA is the first product with Adult and Larvacidal activity available to poultry growers in Australia.
Working with the major growers in the Australian poultry segment the team as Sundew sort to address the issue of rotational products necessary to combat potential resistant strains of darkling beetle.
With an ever increasing number of inferior synthetic pyrethroid products entering this segment with little regard for the increasing issue of resistance management prompted the team at Sundew to develop this state-of-the-art product.

IMPORTANT NEW IMPROVED LABEL UPDATE FOR LITTER BEETLE – HEAVY INFESTATIONS – 4 mL/1L water. Spray walls and ceilings, paying particular attention to cracks and crevices where beetles may hide. Apply spray to the point of run-off. A band of spray along the base of the wall should also be applied. Treat when litter is being totally replaced. Remove all old litter from shed. Do not replace litter until shed is thoroughly dry.
