SDS Label Declaration Poultry Digest Story Technical BulletinBeetleBETA® 125 SC Concentrate Insecticide
A suspension concentrate containing 125 g/L beta cyfluthrin for use in the control of litter beetle by poultry growers.
BeetleBETA 125SC was the first liquid suspension concentrate of beta cyfluthrin introduced to Australian poultry growers. Sundew Solutions introduced this ground breaking formulation to Australia poultry growers because they were sick and tired of the messy outdated cyfluthrin formulation they had to contend with.
Responding to the needs of todays modern poultry growers, Sundew developed BeetleBETA 125SC the first and only formulation of its type in Australia to meet the growing safety and ease of use requirements.
BeetleBETA, the latest formulation advancement uses purified cyfluthrin to produce ‘beta cyfluthrin’ the NEW treatment for litter beetle in Australia. Beta cyfluthrin has a higher ratio of CIS to TRANS isomers meaning that there are more of the molecules that do the actual ‘killing’ of pests compare to ordinary cyfluthrin (old chemistry) products. The end result is a product that is far more efficacious give you better bang for buck.
Combined with the superior suspension concentrate and unique Controlled Particle Technology (CPT) and Transigel Rheology System (TRS) you’ve got a winning performer. Developed and tested in Australia, for Australian conditions.
The superior formulation science of BeetleBETA is evident in the results from real world trials versus Bayer Prolong WP. In every trial against adult and larva of litter beetle, BeetleBETA 125 outperformed Prolong WP hands down.
BeetleBETA – what is it and what makes it better on beetles?
(or what makes BeetleBETA better)
- BeetleBETA contains betacyfluthrin, a synthetic pyrethroid. Betacyfluthrin is the purified form of cyfluthrin, the active ingredient in Prolong WP. Cyfluthrin contains four forms of the active ingredient, two of which have very low insecticidal activity. In betacyfluthrin, the less active forms have been removed so there is double the effectiveness – the active you get is 100% active
- BeetleBETA is a suspension concentrate (SC) formulation containing 125 grams per litre or 12.5% betacyfluthrin. A suspension concentrate is water-based and, as a liquid, is easier to mix and handle than a wettable powder like Prolong WP. With an easy-to-use bulb measure on each 1L bottle, you only need to mix as much as you need, minimising wastage. There’s no dust and it mixes into water easily.
- BeetleBETA’s formulation with two distinct particle sizes, may give better efficacy on earthen floor sheds due to its better penetration of the soil. This then provides a more complete treated zone in the shed, reducing the number of beetles emerging from below.
- BeetleBETA is mixed at the rate of 80mL per 50L and applied at 50L per 500 m2 floor area. A 1500 m2 shed would require 240 mL of BeetleBETA.
Why Does BeetleBETA outperform Prolong WP and Prolong Ultra?
These are question we’re frequently asked by poultry growers across Australia. And its a really important question.
The answer is simple.
Its all in the math of the application rate and how much active ingredient is applied per squared meter of surface treated:
- Prolong WP only has 55% of the active per sq meter compared to BeetleBETA
- Prolong Ultra (even worse the Prolong WP) only has 50% of the active per sq meter compared to BeetleBETA.
Now you know why BeetleBETA consistently outperforms Prolong WP and Prolong Ultra = there’s double the amount of betacyfluthrin per sq. meter when you use BeetleBETA giving you a greater chance of litter beetle coming into contact with a lethal dose, and giving you longer control.
When you compare the price between the three products it makes obvious sense to choose BeetleBETA because you’re getting double the bang for your buck!
